Confused about the difference between Powersteps and Powerboards? Well, you are not alone! I’ve been there in a few years when I was a newbie driver and not so knowledgeable about the truck’s needs.
Since you came across this blog, I’m going to share the features of a Powerboard and a Powerstep. Many people get confused about these two add-ons because both of them provide security and support steps to passengers and drivers.
If we say PowerBoard, it is an automatic running board. You can see this underneath your truck when doors are closed and extends complete ground clearance to meet your foot when the door opens and even when they are closed. This add-on extends down automatically when a door opens , retracts up when the door closes. It works with both front and a rear door, driver and passenger. The complete kit of a Powerboard includes two steps, a wiring harness with a controller, a weatherproof motor, a LED light kit, and of course the important at all is the hardware. Its sturdy, cast aluminum alloy arms allow step to descend up to six inches to a comfortable stepping height when a door opens and retracts back underneath the vehicle once you close your door.
Always remember that all PowerBoards feature an integrated light kit and coated fasteners to resist corrosion and a heavy duty. I know you’ll want this! The Powerboards are weatherproof, they are pressure sensitive, and they are pinch-proof technology motor that can assure the safety and workability that can last for years. They can hold up to 600lb load capacity and have been tested to operate any climate and salt spray. Once you purchase a Powerboard, always check if it includes a 3 year warranty.
Many drivers will say that Powerboard should be able to hide underneath your truck whenever the doors are closed in order to facilitate complete ground clearance. As a matter of fact, the main reason in adding this is to ensure that the truck encounters minimum resistance when in motion. The opposite happens when the truck comes to a stop, that is, the Powerboard extends outwards to provide a landing for your feet as you alight.
What is Powerstep now and how it differs from a Powerboard?
These days, a Powersteps is one of the most popular truck steps. It is said this add-on is the perfect companion for any truck, lifted or not. How? Compared to other fixed steps, this add-on can be folded away when not in use. All Powersteps are wider and lower to the ground once it is extended than other steps. They operate automatically. It only means that you don’t worry about them as they’re just there when you need them. To ensure safety, this add-on has an anti-pinch feature in order to avoid accidents and acts as holding steps for loading roof racks, washing the windshield, etc. If the doors were closed.
I hope this information helps you. If you want to check the features of every brand of both add-ons, you can check this site and see other car accessories that can enhance the truck’s appearance and maintain its functionalities.
